A few words about Zadar

Zadar, the capital city of the Zadar County, is a strong maritime, tourist, harbour and industrial city located on the Middle Adriatic and is home to about 75.000 inhabitants. The old part of the City, located on a small peninsula, is an important historical town, rich with world renowned heritage which is visible at every step. Founded on a 3,000 year old tradition, the Zadar region has developed to the extent that today it covers 14% of the total land surface of the Republic of Croatia and around 12% of the territorial waters, with more than 300 smaller and larger islands, the latter of which is known as the Zadar archipelago. The region offers beaches with crystal clean water and other natural beauties such as nature parks, including Telaščica at the Island of Dugi Otok, Lake Vrana and Mount Velebit, as well as the national parks of Kornati Islands, Paklenica and Krka waterfalls.

Currency

Croatia hopes to join the euro in 2019, but until then the national currency is the kuna (kn) with one kuna equaling 100 lipas (1 euro ≈ 7,50 kn). You can exchange money at any of the country’s banks, foreign exchange offices, post offices and at almost all travel agencies, hotels and campsites. The majority of establishments and ATMs will also accept credit cards such as Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Diners, etc.

Travel Documents

Your trip to Croatia does not mean visa headaches either. In most cases, the only form of ID required is a valid passport. And if you’re an EU or US citizen, you can also use your national ID card. Croatian customs regulations are almost entirely in harmony with EU standards.

Climate

The areas along the Adriatic coast have a pleasantly mild Mediterranean climate with a large number of sunny days, summers are hot and dry. Average temperatures in the Littoral (Adriatic Coast) are 21 to 29 oC in August. The sea temperature is approximately 25oC in summer.

Power supply

220 V, frequency 50 Hz
